Agates of the Lece Volcanic Complex (Serbia): Mineralogical and Geochemical Characteristics
Agate veins and nodules occur in the Lece Volcanic Complex (Oligocene-Miocene) situated in the south of Serbia and occupying an area of 700 km2. This volcanic complex is composed predominantly of andesites, with sporadic occurrences of andesite-basalts, dacites and latites, and features agate formations that have been very little investigated. This study focuses on five selected agate occurrences within the Lece Volcanic Complex, employing optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray powder diffraction analysis, inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry ...Zoran Miladinović, Vladimir Simić, Nenad Nikolić, Nataša Jović Orsini, Milena Rosić. Determining the Groundwater Balance and Radius of Influence Using Hydrodynamic Modeling: the Case Study of the Groundwater Source “Šumice” (Kikinda, Serbia)
A groundwater flow model was developed to simulate groundwater extraction from the public water supply source of the City of Kikinda. The hydrodynamic model includes the municipal groundwater source of Kikinda (Šumice and the Jezero Well), but also an extended area where there are groundwater sources that provide water supply to three factories: (MSK, TM and LŽT - Kikinda). Geotechnical zoning of the terrain along the first section of E-80 highway in Serbia – SEETO route 7
Part of E-80 highway that passes through Serbia (from the city of Nis to the administrative border Merdare) is 77 km long. The highway is divided into two sections: the first from Nis to Plocnik (39.4 km long) and the second from Plocnik to the administrative border with Kosovo. The route is designed through a typical plain and hilly terrain in which different geological units are dominant: crystalline schists, neogene sediments of foothills and quaternary sediments in the valley ...... parts: a younger Neogene complex downstream from the city of Prokuplje (km: 0-17.2) and an older Neogene complex upstream from Prokuplje (km: 23.5-39.4). Asbestos-Based Pottery from Corsica: The First Fiber-Reinforced Ceramic Matrix Composite
Asbestos-containing pottery shards collected in the northeast of Corsica (Cap Corse) and dating from the 19th century, or earlier, have been analyzed by SEM-EDS, XRPD, FTIR and Raman microspectroscopy. Blue (crocidolite) and white (chrysotile) asbestos fiber bundles are observed in cross-sections. In this paper we discuss some well-known morphological descriptions used in various projects and applications (most notably MULTEXT-East and Unitex) and illustrate the encountered problems on Serbian.
