Overview of the hydrogeological investigations of recently discovered world class deposits in Serbia
Europe industry has growing concerns on availability of the raw materials. To address this challenge, the European Commission has created a list of critical raw materials for the EU, launched EIT Raw Materials initiative, and continuously support research projects (like INTRAW, UNEXMIN etc.) with the aim of reducing the dependency and meeting growing demands. In the last 15 years Serbia is experiencing new bust in geological exploration of mineral deposits. Currently 167 exploration licenses are active, covering approximately 6000 ...Nebojša Atanacković, Vladimir Živanović, Veselin Dragišić, Sava Magazinović. The impact of temporal variability of groundwater levels on groundwater vulnerability maps in karst terrains – a case example of the Perućac spring catchment area
Groundwater vulnerability maps represent an essential tool for protecting karst groundwater resources. Vulnerability assessment is usually based on spatial evaluation of various parameters that affect the vulnerability degree and regulate the protection role of the unsaturated zone. Most of these parameters, like soil and geology conditions, are constant and do not change during the year or over several years. In contrast, some parameters, such as the groundwater level, depend on the variability of recharge conditions. By considering the variability ...Vladimir Živanović, Igor Jemcov, Nebojša Atanacković. Distribution of Potentially Toxic Elements in the City of Zintan and Its Surroundings (Northwestern Libya) by Surface Soil Sampling
Boris Vakanjac, Zorana Naunović, Vesna Ristić Vakanjac, Tanita Đumić, Saša Bakrač, Jana Štrbački, Vuk Gajić, Taher Mohamed Alzarog (2023)The study area is the city of Zintan, in northwestern Libya, which has grown over the past 30 years. Its current population is roughly 30,000. Although the city is in part commercial, most of the population engages in agriculture and primarily grows cereal crops (wheat and barley). The demand of the growing city for agricultural products has increased, intensifying the use of fertilizers, pesticides, and insecticides. Consequently, concentrations of potentially toxic elements (PTE) in the soil have increased. Overwiew of In-Pit Crushing & Conveying Technology in Open Pit Mines
The conditions under which contemporary surface mining operations is carried out obviously becoming increasingly complex. In such complex conditions, the optimization of haulage systems as the technological phase with the largest share in the total operating costs, is very important from the aspect of achieving profitability of the mining project. In a large number of cases, the application of traditional haulage systems with trucks (as the most dominant type of haulage in open pit mines) does not lead to ...Ali Nasirinezhad, Dejan Stevanović, Dragan Ignjatović, Petar Marković. Quantitative landslide risk assessment in the city of Tuzla
In the climate-changing conditions, geological environment interacts more dramatically with the urban fabric than before. The urbanization is expansive and more aggressive than before, but so are the weather extremes and long-term climate trends. In effect, many processes which can be triggered by either side, nature or engineering, are becoming more pervasive than before, and such is the case with landslides. Dealing and managing landslides requires few crucial steps, starting from collecting data on landslide location and typology – ...... P., da Silva, F. P., Andersen, P., Pilz, J., Chalov, S. Non-Detonating Chemical Mixture for Non-Invasive Methods of Rock Breaking
Within the Innovation developed several different non-detonating chemical mixtures for non-invasive methods of rock breaking. Laboratory and polygon tests gave the satisfactory results and knowledge enough to start the practical experiments in the field. The basis of this innovation is a theoretical assumption that certain chemical mixtures release a large quantity of gases during combustion. A multi-criteria approach for assessing the potential of renewable energy sources for electricity generation: Case Serbia
When assessing the potential of renewable energy alternatives for electricity generation, it is necessary to implement a multi-perspective approach that includes economic, technical, environmental, and socio-political criteria. For the evaluation of criteria and alternatives, the Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (FAHP) method is applied. A fuzzy-based decision support model for effectiveness evaluation - a case study of examination of bulldozers
Effectiveness evaluation is one of the basic components of engineering asset management and maintenance engineering in general. Effectiveness is an overall concept representing a measurement of quality of service level for the analyzed engineering system. The Importance of Geotechnical Investigations for the Construction of Transfer Station „Prelići“ on Landfill in Cacak – Serbia
For the purpose of the facilities construction within the transfer station „Prelici“ in Cacak, specific geotechnical investigations were carried out based on which the technological project with the facilities schedule was developed. Self-Engineering: Possibilities for Maintenance Operations in the Mining Machines Industry
Self-engineering is a relatively new branch of knowledge that aims to understand how systems could “autonomously” re-configure or repair themselves without the intervention of the operators. A direct field of application is within the maintenance spectrum. Having systems or machines capable of self-detecting or even self-repairing could represent a game-changer, in capital asset fields such as the mining industry in particular. Validation of vulnerability assessment by means of the Time Dependent, Model: case study from the Slovenian karst catchment
Groundwater vulnerability assessment methods are continuously being developed and existing methods are very often modified to provide better simulation of natural protection conditions and more objective results. Most frequently used methods are based on calculation of predefined parameters influencing water infiltration and underground flow, which can often lead to bias conclusions related to vulnerability evaluations.
