Karst groundwater quantity assessment and sustainability: the approach appropriate for river basin management plans
Veljko Marinović, Zoran Stevanović (2019)As a result of the fact that karstified rocks can accumulate large amounts of high-quality groundwater, karst aquifer is considered, throughout the world, one of the most important types of aquifers. Due to their high permeability, but also vulnerability to pollution, these precious groundwater resources need to be properly evaluated and protected. Taking into account heterogeneity and complexity of the karst environment, it is difficult to propose a uniform algorithm for managing karst groundwater, which causes the necessity to ...Upravljanje karstnim podzemnim vodama, Pritisci na kvantitet voda, Plan upravljanja vodnim resursima, Bosna i Hercegovina, SrbijaVeljko Marinović, Zoran Stevanović. Correlability of Solar Wind with Seismic Events in the Balkan Peninsula Zone
The Solar Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) satellite was launched on the 2nd of December 1995 at L1 Lagrange point (1.5×106 km from Earth) with the purpose of gathering data for helioseismology, remote sensing of the solar atmosphere, and solar wind in situ. The satellite was positioned into orbit in early 1996, with data acquisition expected to commence on January 20th. The correlation between increased values of solar wind parameters and earthquakes in the Balkan peninsula zone between 1996 and 2018 ...Filip Arnaut, Dejan Vučković, Ivana Vasiljević, Vesna Cvetkov. Single crystals of the new disodium tricopper(II) tetrakis(hydrogenarsenate(V)) tetrahydrate, Na2Cu3(AsO3OH)4·4H2O were grown under hydrothermal conditions. The compound was characterized by room-temperature single-crystal X-ray diffraction, SEM-EDS analysis, Raman spectroscopy and magnetic susceptibility measurements. Na2Cu3(AsO3OH)4·4H2O represents a new layered structure-type [space group P21/c, a = 8.7089(17), b = 9.7452(19), c = 9.3353(19) Å, β = 92.63(3)°, V = 791.4(3) Å3, Z = 4]. Hydrochemistry of groundwater contaminated by petroleum hydrocarbons: the impact of biodegradation (Vitanovac, Serbia)
Nenad Marić, Jana Štrbački, Sanja Mrazovac Kurilić, Vladimir P. Beškoski, Zoran Nikić, Snežana Ignjatović, Jovana Malbašić (2020)Aquifer contamination by petroleum hydrocarbons leads to measurable changes of groundwater hydrochemistry, primarily due to the microbiological activity. This study analyzes this phenomenon at an historical kerosene-contaminated site in Vitanovac (central Serbia). Due to the long-term hydrocarbon contamination and exposure to aerobic and anaerobic biodegradation mechanisms, the lowest concentrations of O2, NO3−, and SO42− (electron acceptors) and the highest concentrations of Mn and Fe (products of microbial metabolic activity) overlap. The terminal redox-accepting processes in groundwater ranged from oxygen ...Nenad Marić, Jana Štrbački, Sanja Mrazovac Kurilić, Vladimir P. Beškoski, Zoran Nikić, Snežana Ignjatović, Jovana Malbašić. Development and evaluation of fracture gradient curve model: a case study of south-central Kazakhstan
An accurate fracture gradient value is one of the most important issues in oil and gas well design and drilling. The value of a fracture gradient is a critical parameter for determining the drilling mud weight and selecting the proper depths for setting the casing in the planning process of drilling operations. This paper proposed the new curve model of fracture gradient for the south-central Kazakhstan (central Asia) region based on the analysis of leak-off test and format integrity ...Branimir Stanisavljevic, Vesna Karovic Maricic, Irena Isakov. The shear strength evaluation of rough and infilled joints and its indications for stability of rock cutting in schist rock mass
Construction of E75 highway section through Grdelica gorge was one of the most demanding projects realized in recent Serbian history. The alignment approximately 25 km long consists of several tens of bridges, two tunnels, three galleries and cuts with total length of 6 km. The alignment passes through highly anisotropic Palaeozoic schist rock formation of different weathering grades. This study focuses on shear strength properties of discontinuities, which are found to be the critical feature contributing to the occurrence ...Dušan Berisavljević, Zoran Berisavljević, Svetlana Melentijević.
Tracking of the temporal dependency of fading of the human footprint temperature contrast
In certain situations, it is extremely important to determine the exact time “someone” entered or crossed the forbidden zone of a military or strategic installation, a red zone of radioactive, chemical, or biological contamination, a bank or similar structure. Standard security measures include ordinary video surveillance using cameras that operate in the visible range of the electromagnetic spectrum, as well commercial thermal imaging cameras [1, 2]. The paper presents the results of experiments that suggest another possible use of ...Stevan Đenadić, Ljubiša Tomić, Vesna Damnjanović, Darko Vasiljević, Danica Pavlović.
