Groundwater vulnerability assessment methods are continuously being developed and existing methods are very often modified to provide better simulation of natural protection conditions and more objective results. Примена метода рањивости подземних вода има велики значај код делинеације зона санитарне заштите карстних изворишта. Процена рањивости изворишта карстних подземних вода углавном је била базирана на Европском приступу (COST пројекат 620), који укључује анализу фактора К, који се односи на кретање подземне воде кроз засићену зону карстног система.
