Filter rules for soil and geosynthetics
Correlation of uniaxial compressive strength with the dynamic elastic modulus, p –wave velocity and s –wave velocity of different rock types
Knowing mechanical properties of rocks incorporated with ultrasonic waves velocities investigations provide a secure basis for mine modelling. Uniaxial compressive strength, dynamic elastic modulus and ultrasonic waves velocities are just some of the rock properties that indicate on presence of discontinuities, stratification and fissures of rocks. Determining the relationship of these rock properties testing the rock samples that are corresponding to different rock types extracted from different mineral deposits represents the core of this study. In this paper, we ...Jelena Majstorović, Miloš Gligorić, Suzana Lutovac, Milanka Negovanović, Luka Crnogorac. Estimating hydraulic parameters for the complex hydrodynamic models
Hydrodynamic models have usually been calibrated manually, by trial-and-error, with different values of hydraulic parameters and hydraulic characteristics of boundary conditions. This method of calibration and estimation of hydraulic parameters requires an extensive knowledge and experience of experts, but whether the resulting solution includes an optimal set of parameters still remains an open question. An optimization method founded upon the Gauss-Marquardt-Levenberg algorithm, along with PEST software based on that algorithm, introduces automation of model calibration with regularization, which substantially ...Dušan Polomčić, Dragoljub Bajić, Jelena Ratković, Bojan Hajdin. Probabilistic analysis of anisotropic rock slope with reinforcement measures
During the construction of E75 highway through Grdelica gorge in Serbia, a major failure occurred in the zone of reinforced rock slope. Excavation was performed in highly anisotropic Paleozoic schist rock formation. The reinforcement consisted of the two rows of micropile wall with pre-stressed anchors. Forces in anchors were monitored with load cells while benchmarks were installed for superficial displacement measurements. The aim of the study is to investigate possible causes of instability considering different probability distributions of the ...Zoran Berisavljević, Dušan Berisavljević, Miloš Marjanović, Svetlana Melentijević. Application of the PROMETHEE and VIKOR methods for selecting the most suitable carbon dioxide geological storage option
CO2 storage in geological formations is one of the leading solutions for mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions. Types of geological formations that can be used for CO2 storage, that are discussed in this paper are: depleted oil and gas reservoirs, saline aquifers and injection CO2 in partially depleted oil reservoirs for enhanced oil recovery (EOR–CO2 method). In order to select the most suitable geological storage of CO2, the ranking of these storage options was performed using two methods of ...Lola Tomić, Vesna Karović Maričić, Dušan Danilović, Branko Leković, Miroslav Crnogorac. The shear strength evaluation of rough and infilled joints and its indications for stability of rock cutting in schist rock mass
Construction of E75 highway section through Grdelica gorge was one of the most demanding projects realized in recent Serbian history. The alignment approximately 25 km long consists of several tens of bridges, two tunnels, three galleries and cuts with total length of 6 km. The alignment passes through highly anisotropic Palaeozoic schist rock formation of different weathering grades. This study focuses on shear strength properties of discontinuities, which are found to be the critical feature contributing to the occurrence ...Dušan Berisavljević, Zoran Berisavljević, Svetlana Melentijević. Fault type assessment based on vertical gravity gradient anomalies – advantages and limitations
The type of dip-slip faults can be assessed based on the analysis of vertical gravity gradients. Theoretically, just a simple comparation of the gradient extreme values can give us an answer whether the fault is normal or reverse (thrust). Practical application of this method is far more complicated and the results depend on a number of parameters, such as a complexity of geological setting, the quality of gravity data, dip angle and displacement of the fault, density contrast, etc. ...... Preliminary impact assessment of No2 emission from a heating plant on air pollution: case of Zemun, Serbia
The aim of this paper is to provide a preliminary evaluation of the impact caused by NO2 emissions from a heating plant on the local air quality. To model the spatial distribution of NO2 emissions from the heating plant, the AERMOD model was employed. The evaluation was conducted by analyzing and contrasting the simulated NO2 concentration from the heating plant with the overall NO2 concentration recorded at the nearest monitoring station over the entire heating season. Unusually sluggish microemulsion system with water, toluene and a technical branched alkyl polyethoxylate
Marija Ilić, Franz-Hubert Haegel, Vesna Pavelkić, Snežana Zlatanović, Zoran Marković, Aleksandar Cvjetić (2015)Microemulsion systems with water, toluene and nonionic surfactants are interesting for application due to the excellent solvent properties of aromatic hydrocarbons. In this study, the pseudo-binary phase diagram (“fish-diagram”) of such a ternary system was investigated using a branched technical alkyl polyethoxylate. Lutensol ON 50 (i-C10E5) was considered a suitable surfactant. The system with technical branched i-C10E5 exhibits very long, and for compositions near optimum solubilization, i.e., the minimum content of surfactant needed for a bicontinuous microemulsion, extremely long ... Vesna Pavelkić, Tanja Brdarić, Marija Petrović, Gavrilo Šekularac, Milica Košević, Lato Pezo, Marija Ilić (2015)The applicability of Peleg model was investigated for predicting mass transfer kinetics during the osmotic dehydration (OD) process of pears, at different concentrations (40, 60 and 70%, w/w) and temperatures (20, 35 and 50 °C) of sucrose solution. Increase in sucrose solution concentration resulted in higher water loss (WL) and solid gain (SG) values through the osmotic treatment period. After 360 min of osmotic treatment of pears, WL ranged from 23.71 to 31.68% at 20 °C, from 24.80 to ...Vesna Pavelkić, Tanja Brdarić, Marija Petrović, Gavrilo Šekularac, Milica Košević, Lato Pezo, Marija Ilić.
