Palaeoflora of Kamenica (Pranjani Basin, western Serbia)
Palaeofloras of the Paleogene in Serbia are relatively rare, especially in comparison with floras from Neogene sediments. Most Paleogene phytoas sociations from the territory of Serbia existed in a dry and warm climate. The youngest Paleogene phytoassociation originates from the Pranjani Basin (Western Serbia), locality Kamenica. The age of this palaeoflora is determined as Late Oligocene. This fossil plant assemblage is different from other Paleo gene phytoassociations. The palaeoflora from Kamenica is characterized with leaf imprints larger than in other ...... the woody dicotyledonous angiosperm from the Kamenica lo- cality indicate the climate was warm and humid, subtropical-tropical. Such favorable environmental and climatic con- ditions were reflected in the vigour of vegetation in the Late Oligocene. Acknowledgments We thank reviewers, for their suggestions ...

Hydrochemistry of groundwater contaminated by petroleum hydrocarbons: the impact of biodegradation (Vitanovac, Serbia)
Nenad Marić, Jana Štrbački, Sanja Mrazovac Kurilić, Vladimir P. Beškoski, Zoran Nikić, Snežana Ignjatović, Jovana Malbašić (2020)Aquifer contamination by petroleum hydrocarbons leads to measurable changes of groundwater hydrochemistry, primarily due to the microbiological activity. This study analyzes this phenomenon at an historical kerosene-contaminated site in Vitanovac (central Serbia). Due to the long-term hydrocarbon contamination and exposure to aerobic and anaerobic biodegradation mechanisms, the lowest concentrations of O2, NO3−, and SO42− (electron acceptors) and the highest concentrations of Mn and Fe (products of microbial metabolic activity) overlap. The terminal redox-accepting processes in groundwater ranged from oxygen ...Nenad Marić, Jana Štrbački, Sanja Mrazovac Kurilić, Vladimir P. Beškoski, Zoran Nikić, Snežana Ignjatović, Jovana Malbašić. Ecological status of the Lim river alluvium in Serbia
Amel Kurbegović, Boris Vakanjac, Vesna Ristić Vakanjac, Mirjana Bartula, Zorana Naunović, Nikola Milovanović, Jovan Kovačević (2022)Three countries share the catchment of the Lim River and they have been engaged in an eco-logical struggle for years, to conserve the river, its tributaries, and biodiversity. Honoring international conventions and declarations, along with active involvement of the civil society and support of Eu-ropean Union agencies, major efforts are being made to draw attention to the degradation of nature, especially water, which is essential for life on the planet Earth. Considering that natural resources are limited and that ...Amel Kurbegović, Boris Vakanjac, Vesna Ristić Vakanjac, Mirjana Bartula, Zorana Naunović, Nikola Milovanović, Jovan Kovačević. Projecting short to medium-term effects of carbon emissions trading on Serbia's GDP
Boban Pavlović, Nikola Trtica (2024)This paper presents an approach to assess the short to medium-term effects of the Emissions Trading System (ETS), an economic and climate policy instrument aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions, on GDP from the expenditure side. The analysis focuses on Serbia’s electricity sector, which relies heavily on lignite-based pro duction dominated by state-owned enterprises. The obtained projections suggest that in the short term, the introduction of an ETS may lead to slower GDP growth compared to official forecasts. However, ......
