New Pliensbachian rhynchonellide (Brachiopoda) from Livari, (Rumija Mountain, Montenegro): taxonomy and shell microstructure implications
Barbara V. Radulović (2022)An interesting case of close external similarity (homoeomorphy) is revealed by the study of an Early Jurassic rhynchonellide brachiopod from Livari, Rumija Mountain, southern Montenegro. Shell microstructure was used as the primary diagnostic tool, applied before serial sectioning to study internal characters. Sepkoskirhynchia sphaerica gen. et sp. nov. is erected based on the presence of coarse fibrous shell microstructure and subfalciform crura. Because of these primary diagnostic characters, the new genus is placed in the rhynchonellide family Basiliolidae. Composition of organic matter and thermal maturity of Mesozoic and Cenozoic sedimentary rocks in East Herzegovina (External Dinarides, Bosnia and Herzegovina)
This paper presents the first data on the organic matter and thermal maturity of Mesozoic and Cenozoic sedimentary rocks in the East Herzegovina region of the External Dinarides. Representative, organic-rich samples from outcropping sedimentary rocks of different ages in the area (Triassic to Neogene) were selected and analysed. The organic matter was studied by Rock-Eval pyrolysis and under the microscope in reflected non-polarized light and incident blue light. The results obtained show the presence of different types of organic ...... and the Early Jurassic lithi- otid limestones within the same structure (Natević and Petrović, 1970; Vujisić, 1975) constitute the exposed base- ment of the Adriatic Carbonate Platform, similar to oth- er localities in the Dinarides (Vlahović et al., 2005). e Middle and Late Jurassic strata are composed ...
