A necessary and sufficient condition for an algebraic integer to be a Salem number
Dragan Stankov (2019)We present a necessary and sufficient condition for a root greater than unity of a monic reciprocal polynomial of an even degree at least four, with integer coefficients, to be a Salem number. This condition requires that the minimal polynomial of some power of the algebraic integer has a linear coefficient that is relatively large. We also determine the probability that an arbitrary power of a Salem number, of certain small degrees, satisfies this condition.Algebraic integer, the house of algebraic integer, maximal modulus, reciprocal polynomial, primitive polynomial, Schinzel-Zassenhaus conjecture, Mahler measure, method of least squares, cyclotomic polynomialsDragan Stankov. Temperature induced evolution of nanostructured Ni0.9Zn0.1O
Kremenović Aleksandar, Antić Bratislav, Vučinić-Vasić Milica, Colomban Philippe, Jovalekić Čedomir, Bibić Nataša, Kahlenberg Volker, Leoni Matteo (2010)The crystal structure and microstructure of as-prepared and annealed Ni0.9Zn0.1O were refined at room temperature in both the Fm (3) over barm and R (3) over barm space groups. It is shown that below the Neel point (458 K), where magnetic ordering triggers the presence of a trigonal strain, the common usage of a higher-symmetry non-admissible space group for crystal structure and microstructure analysis via the Rietveld method may result in both an incorrect structure description and incorrect microstructure ...Kremenović Aleksandar, Antić Bratislav, Vučinić-Vasić Milica, Colomban Philippe, Jovalekić Čedomir, Bibić Nataša, Kahlenberg Volker, Leoni Matteo. Reducing environmental impact caused by mining activities in limestone mines
Radmila Gaćina, Bojan Dimitrijević (2022)Mining and its related activities have always resulted in changes in the environment and these changes can vary from one area to another. As a result of mining, several types of changes can be distinguished: destruction of land and existing vegetation, changes in terrain topography, modification in air quality, changes in surface and groundwater quality, as well as change geotechnical conditions of the rock. Environmental impact of mining have been a public concern. There is widespread global interest in mining ...Radmila Gaćina, Bojan Dimitrijević. Malathion-induced inhibition of human plasma cholinesterase studied by the fluorescence spectroscopy method
The in vitro effect of technical grade malathion was assessed via the kinetic parameters of human plasma butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) using N-methylindoxyl acetate as a substrate for BChE. An inhibitor kinetics study demonstrated the existence of a biphasic inhibition curve, indicating high- and low-affinity binding sites of malathion. The IC50 values as calculated from the experimental inhibition curves were 1.33 × 10–9 and 1.48 × 10–5 M for the high- and low-affinity binding sites, respectively; Hill’s analysis gave 1.29 × ...V. Detecting the boundaries of gravity anomaly sources using the vertical and tilt derivative
In geophysical exploration, it is important to define the boundaries of anomaly sources that are not visible on the surface. Information about the boundaries of sources can help during geophysical geological modeling of the survey area. A model of the survey area can help in better defining the geological structure and geological development of an exploration area. This paper presents how the procedures of vertical and tilt derivative on gravity data can help to detect the ...Snežana Ignjatović, Ivana Vasiljević, Branislav Sretković. A multi-criteria approach for assessing the potential of renewable energy sources for electricity generation: Case Serbia
When assessing the potential of renewable energy alternatives for electricity generation, it is necessary to implement a multi-perspective approach that includes economic, technical, environmental, and socio-political criteria. For the evaluation of criteria and alternatives, the Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (FAHP) method is applied. The obtained weights are formed according to the values of energy indicators and expert judgments. The use of a fuzzy numerical value scale for the assessment of expert judgments and energy indicators provides a more sensitive ...Boban Pavlović, Dejan Ivezić, Marija Živković. Self-Engineering: Possibilities for Maintenance Operations in the Mining Machines Industry
Self-engineering is a relatively new branch of knowledge that aims to understand how systems could “autonomously” re-configure or repair themselves without the intervention of the operators. A direct field of application is within the maintenance spectrum. Having systems or machines capable of self-detecting or even self-repairing could represent a game-changer, in capital asset fields such as the mining industry in particular. This paper aims to investigate the possible benefits and challenges of self-engineering / self-maintenance concerning mining machines, specifically bucket-wheel ...self-engineering, self-maintenance, maintenance operations, mining industry, bucket-wheel excavator, gearbox revitalizationSteven Manders, Milorad Pantelić, Vladimir Milisavljević, Alberto Martinetti.
