Synergy between the mineral deposit exploration and geothermal resources assessment on the example of "Valjevo" boron and lithium deposit in Serbia
Nebojša Atanacković, Vladimir Živanović, Ana Vranješ, Sava Magazinović, Marinko Toljić, Ana Arifović, Branislav Potić (2023)Exploration of mineral deposits involves a collection of vast data sets on geological characteristics of the area. These data can largely contribute to the assessment of the geothermal potential, which can lead to an increase in the share of geothermal resources in the energy mix of the extractive industry and the local community. On the example of the "Valjevo" B-Li deposit, data on structural settings and previous hydrogeological investigations were combined with the results of resource drilling and geophysical ...Nebojša Atanacković, Vladimir Živanović, Ana Vranješ, Sava Magazinović, Marinko Toljić, Ana Arifović, Branislav Potić. Geothermal potential, chemical characteristic and utilization of groundwater in Serbia
To collect and unify data about all geothermal resources in Serbia, a database was formed. The database allows us to perceive the geothermal resources of Serbia and their potential for utilization. Based on the data available in the geothermal database, the estimated temperatures of reservoirs, heat power, and geothermal energy utilization were calculated. The database contains 293 geothermal records (springs, boreholes) registered at 160 locations, with groundwater temperatures in the range between 20 and 111 °C. The maximum expected ...Geothermal database, Geothermal resources, Geothermal potential, Hydrochemistry, Hierarchical cluster analysis, SerbiaTanja Petrović Pantić, Katarina Atanasković Samolov, Jana Štrbački, Milan Tomić. Environmental Noise Impact Assessment for Large-Scale Surface Mining Operations in Serbia
Noise emissions are a significant environmental impact caused by the mining industry in all technological phases of surface mining, mineral processing, and waste disposal. This paper presents the role of noise impact assessment and control in large-scale surface mining operations. Mine planning develops the model of mining operations, ore excavation, and waste dumping scheduling and processing rates, including spatial distribution of mining activities. Such a level of mine planning requires an environmental impact assessment study. This can be achieved ...Uros Pantelic, Petar Lilic, Aleksandar Cvjetic, Nikola Lilic. Strategic Environmental Assessment and the precautionary principle in the spatial planning of wind farms – European experience in Serbia
Spatial determination planning is at an initial and very sensitive step in the development of wind farms. On one hand, it is important to maximize the potential of wind in a particular area, and on the other hand, it is important to achieve environmental protection (including the human population and natural heritage) in the same space at the same time. With this in mind, it is important to balance all the requirements that are relevant for reaching the optimal ...Boško Josimović, Aleksandar Cvjetić, Danilo Furundžić. Fuzzy Model for Risk Assessment of Machinery Failures
The main goal of this research was the development of an algorithm for the implementation of negative risk parameters in a synthesis model for a risk level assessment for a specific machine used in the mining industry. Fuzzy sets and fuzzy logic theory, in combination with statistical methods, were applied to analyze the time picture state of the observed machine. Fuzzy logic is presented through fuzzy proposition and a fuzzy composition module. Using these tools, the symmetric position of the ...Dejan V. Application of the principle of circular economy to the thermal groundwater, the example of the municipality of Bogatić
There are about 360 locations of thermal and thermo-mineral waters in Serbia, whose water temperatures range from 14 to 98°C, which ranks Serbia as the richest European country in geothermal energy. The mentioned water resources (thermal and thermomineral waters) are used, mostly, for therapeutic purposes in spas and sports and recreational centers. The main problem that is present is the fact that they are not used in a rational and efficient way. The paper will give examples territorially related ...Marija Jovanović, Vesna Ristić Vakanjac. Validation of vulnerability assessment by means of the Time Dependent, Model: case study from the Slovenian karst catchment
Groundwater vulnerability assessment methods are continuously being developed and existing methods are very often modified to provide better simulation of natural protection conditions and more objective results. Most frequently used methods are based on calculation of predefined parameters influencing water infiltration and underground flow, which can often lead to bias conclusions related to vulnerability evaluations. Some other methods, like the Time Dependent Model (TDM) are based on an approach, where parametrization is obtained at the final stage of the ...Ocena ranjivosti podzemnih voda, karstne podzemne vode, TDM metoda, delineacija sanitarnih zona, Slovenački karstVladimir Živanović, Nataša Ravbar, Igor Jemcov.
